In the new Explorer of Windows 7, directory levels in the address bar can be jumped to directly using small arrow icons. This function is not only practical but very useful.
You can use ‘QTAddressBar’, a free program that upgrades the navigation functions of XP and replaces the simple address bar. The tool can be downloaded for free from ‘http:// qttabbar.wikidot.com/download-qtadd’. You will need the .NET Framework v2 to be able to use it.
Extract the ZIP file to a new folder and double-click ‘QTAddressBar.exe’ for installation. Then restart Windows once installed. Open the Windows Explorer and right-click the menu bar. Activate the new icon bar with the context command ‘QT Breadcrumbs Address Bar’.
Similarly, you can close the conventional ‘Address bar’. Now cancel the ‘Lock toolbars’ option using the context command and move the new address bar in the manner of Windows 7 under the tool bar.
Note: You can directly jump to any folder from the bar. Clicking the triangle icon once shows a hierarchical sub-menu for quick navigation.
