Deskspace is an effective tool that is useful and effective for those who have the habit of opening and working on multiple files. What makes this application stand out is its ability to emulate up to six different desktops.
They are combined to form a cube, thereby giving you the freedom to switch from one desktop to another by using the arrow keys or the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel though will only allow you to switch between the four sides of the cube leaving out the top and bottom, but nevertheless this is an effective tool for people who love multitasking. Switching between desktops can be done by using the program's predefined keys which obviously can be change by the user. You can even predefine keys that will take you the desired desktop, removing the need to search for a particular desktop.
Other than the keyboard shortcuts, you can also make use of the program's hot spots. Four hot spots at the four corners of the screen have been defined, thus allowing you to switch desktops by simply hovering your mouse over any one of the desktop corners. Now what if you would want to move an open document to a different desktop environment? Well, a feature called ‘Automatically switch desktops when window is dragged out of screen’ does just that. When enabled, you can simply drag the selected window towards the edge of the screen to activate desktop switching. Now, keeping the mouse button pressed move it towards the location you would like to place the document. Keep in mind that only opened applications and windows can be moved around. You cannot move files or folders to a different deskspace. Just make sure you have at least 512 MB of memory before installing this application
