Coolris with Firefox

Posted By On 4:33 AM Under
FROM the numerous cool add-ons available for use with Firefox, something new is now being offered. Like never before, this add-on gives a stunning full screen experience. It's called Cooliris. The main function of the add-on is to gather images from various sources like Google, PhotoBucket, etc.

For instance, if we search for images in Google using Cooliris, then they will be displayed in a 3-D format. This means that the images can be dragged across the screen to navigate to the next image, all this with a full screen view. Surprisingly, Cooliris works perfectly fine even on a system with just 256 MB RAM.

Follow these steps to download and enjoy Cooliris,

  • Visit the following link to download Cooliris: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5579.
  • Restart Firefox for the installation to take effect.
  • On restarting Firefox, Cooliris will be launched automatically. If that doesn't happen then click 'Start, All Programs, Cooliris, Launch Cooliris'.
  • The Cooliris page will open up in a full screen mode.
  •  Once on the page, you will see a search box on the top-right corner of the screen. Clicking on it will display a choice of sites including Yahoo!, Flickr, Tube, Google, DeviantART, Photobucket, etc. Select the site through which you want a video or image search done.
  • Enter the search criteria in the textbox and press [Enter].
  • Depending on the speed of the computer and the Internet connection, the images will take some time to be displayed. Once they appear you can browse through them using the arrow keys or by clicking and dragging the black portion between the images. Scrolling the mouse wheel up and down you can control the zoom.
NOTE: To exit this page, simply press the [Esc] key. This will minimize it to the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Other features available on the Cooliris page include 'Shopping', 'Favorites' and 'Discover' tools. Discover provides with updates on various topics like news, sports, business and technology. Favorites allows users to bookmark their favorite images.
