To disable the writing of data to USB drives follow these steps:
- Go to 'Start | Run', type 'regedit' in the text box and press [Enter].
- Browse to the 'HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE | SYSTEM | CurrentControlSet | Control | StorageDevicePolicies' registry key.
- Right-click anywhere on the right pane and select the 'DWORD (32-bit) Value' option.
- Double-click the newly created key and type '00000001' in the 'Value data' field.
- Once done, you will have to restart your system for changes to take effect.
