Using a free web service as FTP client - Internet

Posted By On 6:34 AM Under
You occasionally need FTP access to the Internet on an unknown computer. You need a tool that is quick and easy to install or an alternative, in case the former cannot be installed.

If there are no FTP clients installed on the computer, you can easily make do with a web service. For this, you need to open www.anyclient.com/ applet.html. The website requires Java to be installed. After you enter the site, allow the installation of the Java application by clicking on ‘Execute’ in the warning that is displayed. You must enter or store the necessary access data every time a connection is established. For this, click the ‘Connect’ button below. Now select the desired connection in the Site Manager or click ‘New’ to create a new connection. Then enter a name and enter all the required access data such as ‘Host’, ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ on the right. First click ‘Save’ to save this configuration for future use on the local computer. Then confirm with ‘Connect’. You can now navigate through the folder of the local as well as the remote computer in the main window of the Java application and create, delete, or rename files and folders using the buttons. You can data from one computer to the other but you cannot edit the files directly on the server. For that, you have to first download the files in which you want to make the changes, and reupload them after editing.
